The lab class, BMB 473, is the intensive laboratory on campus at Michigan State University for the summer 2009. To accommodate to the increase of students from 40 to approximately 70 students, the new laboratory will have the same hands on experience but much more intense. The class, which meets three times a day six hours a week, integrates two capstone laboratories with utilization of new technology.
Michigan State University recently decided to increase the tuition by 5.2% for the upcoming 2009 school year. It will also raise another 4% for the 2010/2011 school year totaling a 10% increase in only two years. Many students and professors have their own views of this tuition increase and think the reason for this increase is the recession in America.
The East Lansing Public Library hosts an annual “get creative with lego” session. This is only their second year hosting the event and it has been a big hit for east lansing children. The session that is open to the public gives kids that are out of school for the summer, a chance to be indoors and have fun as well as be creative. With the recession, parents as well as grandparents get to have quality time with their children. The East Lansing Public Library plans to make the session a bi-annual event.
The Lansing City Market has been a part of Lansing for nearly a century (built in 1909). New plans for the renovation of the building will move the entire location of the market a couple hundred feet away. Glenn Hills, a 4th generation vendor of the market, however, has his own opinions of the new market.
