Carol Thompson’s Biography
Posted by Carol Thompson on January 22, 2010
I’m a Journalism sophomore at MSU, and getting a second degree in Environmental Studies and Agriscience. Although I appreciate the well-rounded education I’m receiving because of these two degrees, I am not enjoying the Chemistry that comes along with it. I can hardly count to six, which makes that particular course exceedingly difficult.
My Journalism experience began in high school, when I worked for the school paper as a reporter and copy editor. Since then, I have contributed to MSU publications The Big Green and EJ Magazine, as well as Lansing Online News. I also write Track 01, a music blog. I chose to pursue Journalism because I like the idea of having the kind of job that is both interesting and has the potential to positively impact other people, even if it just makes them smile. Recently, however, I have come to the realization that having a fulfilling life is more important than a fancy career, so if I end up writing some dinky local newsletter, I’ll be just fine.
Besides doing Journalism and school-related things, I enjoy listening to (and attempting to play) music, and nature. I really like going to concerts, especially if they’re outside. Ideally, my future will involve getting paid to go to concerts, sleeping in hammocks in the forest and writing about it all. Please let me know if you have an connections or can hook me up with something like that.
Here’s my video biography! It’s a quick how-to on recycling, in case you needed the help.
